Family filled weekend

Busy, busy weekend.....no wonder the seemed to go by so fast.

It started Friday night with a happy hour for one of my favorite Body Pump instructors, Maura.  It was for her birthday and I felt honored to be able to celebrate with her.  After a quick margarita I headed off to another party with Britney. Her best friend Karon was hosting a thirty-one gifts party. Man, the stuff there was so cute that I was able to get some early Christmas shopping done.

Britney needed to test a new hair style so guess who she used.
Great start to my weekend!

Saturday was sports day.  I cheered on the Aggies (who lost by 1 point) to OSU.  It was a hard game to watch because I sure thought they were going to make a come back and win!!! That evening Britney hosted a UFC fight/OU game party so I got to enjoy some quality time with my family and relax.

Sunday was another busy day.  It started with an awesome service at RiverPointe Church followed by a family lunch for my dad's 83rd birthday.  Of course he tells my kids that he is 27.  He said you are only as old as you feel and that is what he feels like.  :)

My family...still missing some people though!

50 is not a senior

My gym, 24 hour fitness just sent me this email. I was so mad that I almost emailed them back.  I was very offended to say the least! FYI...50 years old is not considered a senior citizen in MY book....but apparently I am an active OLDER adult. Thanks alot 24 Hour Fitness and your effort to "energize older adults".....BUT I am NOT one of them. I do not care about Active Aging Week

Since we are on the topic of health and fitness I thought I would go ahead and share some tips.
Below are a couple of things I served at a family gathering...delicious yet still healthy. This is proof that eating healthy can be yummy!

Chocolate Protein Bars
Preheat 350/Spray pan

Mix:
1 c oat flour
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
½ t baking soda
¼ t. salt
3 T Baking cocoa

Mix:
4 egg whites
8 oz. berry flavored baby food
4 oz water
¼  c stevia
Mix the 2 bowls together.

Bake 20-30 min
Makes 16 squares.  Serving = 2 bars

Fruit Skewers - what a fun way to serve fruit without the typical fruit salad.

I am working on getting a "pretty" blog design since I definitely wont be able to figure that out so check back to find me posting on my fun, crazy family, fitness tips, and my fascinating travels.
